THE OSCAR PROJECT
Menu
All the nominated films? Really?Well, not quite. Unfortunately, some of the earlier films that were nominated for Oscars have been lost over the years. Others do still exist, but are not readily available. When this happens, I have a special show for each season set aside to discuss the "lost films" from that year. You said seasons, what do you mean? Each season of the podcast will cover a single iteration of the Oscars ceremony. Early on the Academy Awards handed out the Oscars to films from across a two year span. For example, the awards handed out in 1929 were for films from 1927 and early 1928. Right now the first season is slated to have around 20 episodes covering the 25 films that were nominated the first time around. Great, so when can I get it?The first episodes will be available the first week of January 2020. Look for roughly three episodes per week, but also be on the lookout for some weeks with more than that along with some special episodes sprinkled in. Why start with the 1920s? What about the current Oscars?Well, I wanted to start at the beginning and see how the films nominated for the Academy Awards changed over the last 90+ years. Most people haven't seen those older films, so this might be a way to bring some of them a bit of well deserved attention after nearly a century of neglect. As far as the current Oscars, the nominations will be announced in just a few weeks, so I'm sure there will be some mention of the current crop of films. You'll just have to listen to find out. Awesome! I can't wait!Me neither. I've been having a BLAST researching and watching these old films from 1927 and 1928 and I can't wait to bring you the reviews and insights in the podcast in just a few weeks. Look for the very first episode to be available on January 1st, 2020, New Year's Day!
